Crime Networks Uncovered

Excellent mention in the MIT Technology Review of the Master's work of Stefano Gurciullo, who is now working towards a PhD under the supervision of my UCL Political Science colleague Slava Mikhaylov and myself. Before working with me, Stefano used Social Network Analysis to examine the role of the Mafia in the Sicilian economy. Fascinating stuff.Mafia, wow. Stefano is a braver scholar than me, but I'm really glad to now be working with him on how the connections between banks effect economic stability. Stefano is working with folks at the Bank of England on this problem, using network science methods, and I expect I'll be announcing positive research outcomes from that soon!
